HI-IQ Tips & Techniques: June 2006

Almost everyone has it, but are you using it? We're referring to the Practice Management Data Mining Wizard that has been a part of HI-IQ since version 3.1. This reporting tool analyzes your HI-IQ data to identify trends in your practice. Sound confusing? It's really not. Let's take a look at a simple example that could apply to virtually any interventional practice...

Here's the scenario: You're busier than ever, it seems like patients are rolling through the door non-stop, you know you need some help, maybe another physician, or an RPA, and a new lab with updated equipment wouldn't hurt either. But, hospital adminstration laughs at you and tells you to come back when you have some solid numbers to back-up your request. Little do they know that you're using HI-IQ so you'll back with an answer 5 minutes later.

Here's the solution:

Login to HI-IQ.
Select Reports, then click the "DataMining Wizard" button on the left side of the screen.
Click Next, and select the "Physician/Service/CPT Analysis" report. Click Next.
Select the following options:
1. Sequence 'by Service'
2. Select the date range and interval you'd like to examine
3. Select a Service to chart
In this example, we've charted carotid stent volumes over the last three years, per physician. The increase shown here could be just what you need to justify a new bi-plane suite for all those neuro interventions!
