System Architecture:

HI-IQ uses a rich-client architecture that sports a powerful user interface designed to allow you to perform critical data collection and reporting tasks with maximum efficiency. ‘Rich’ is perhaps an understatement. HI-IQ offers a digital dashboard, a data mining wizard, Outlook-style scheduling features, direct PDF-generation, digital ink, electronic signatures, large touch-screen integration, automatic and customizable reporting, interactive charting, export to Excel, RF-ID login, etc... HI-IQ deploys a plethora of tools, of software components using a philosophy of transparent, effortless power.

HI-IQ is most often used at the point-of-care, either during or immediately following each procedure that takes place in IR. This generally means that users will need access to a HI-IQ enabled workstation in each Procedure Room or, in a centrally located Control Room. Handheld computers can be used to capture data in areas where it is not feasible to have a workstation. The HI-IQ license permits you to install one HI-IQ database, which may be accessed by as many workstations as necessary.

HI-IQ is available in one of three standard implementation architectures:

  1. Client/Server installation
  2. Locally maintained Citrix application server
  3. Hosted HI-IQ

Client/Server installation:
The traditional rich-client workstation approach works well provided that sufficient workstation horsepower and local area network bandwidth is available. HI-IQ contains a built-in semi-automatic “Check for Updates” software updating process; in addition, a network-file system based workstation software update ‘push’ feature allows the administrator to effortlessly download updates on a master workstation connected to www.hi-iq.com, and then to ‘push’ these updates to make them available to other workstations. This process requires local administrator privileges and generally works well; however, in some ‘locked-down’ environments, software updating can be problematic.

See System Requirements for workstation, server and network specifications.

Locally maintained Citrix application server:
If your institution has space on an existing Citrix server, we highly recommend Citrix as a preferred method of application management. Citrix offers the following benefits over the ‘traditional rich-client’ workstation:

  • Less network traffic
  • Lowered Workstation hardware requirements
  • Lower cost implementation and maintenance
  • Faster performance
  • More robust operation

Hosted HI-IQ:
For sites with broadband Internet connections, consider HI-IQ's remote hosting solution, which offers the ultimate in accessibility and ease of management, while greatly reducing your dependence on local IT resources. Hosted HI-IQ offers these advantages:

  • Workstation Freedom. Our single sign-on approach extends your reach. Using Hosted HI-IQ, you can access HI-IQ from anywhere, anytime, from virtually any device, without burdening your local network resources.

  • No local IT staff needed. All you need is an internet connection and a browser. Our staff has thousands of hours of experience supporting hundreds of HI-IQ sites across the world. With HI-IQweb, our HI-IQ administrators manage your HI-IQ application and database for you; there is nothing additional for your IT staff to maintain or support.

  • Instant Implementation & dramatically reduced Total Cost of Ownership. Startup time is drastically reduced. Special workstation hardware requirements? None. Local Server space and power allocations? None. All ongoing database maintenance, updating and support is handled by us.

  • Full-blown rich-client functionality (significantly better-than-HTML-browser user interface, and snappy performance!) Many competitive systems offer ‘browser-based’ options; frequently they are ‘simplified’ versions of a richer interface; where each screen contains relatively little data. In concept, this may seem attractive. In reality, it can slow processing to a crawl, as you are forced to wade through an endless sequence of over-simplified screens to perform one task. Hosted HI-IQ is not simply a dumbed-down HTML representation. It’s the ever-evolving HI-IQ you already know… with it’s full power, and rich interface.

  • The Power to freely Park and smoothly Roam. Your internet-based HI-IQ session follows you to each PC\device you log into. This capability allows clinicians to switch easily between devices at various ‘points of care’ without interrupting their HI-IQ session. You can use a handheld tablet to start case entry at the clinic, press one button to park your session, and pick-it up, in progress, at the screen and field, exactly where you left it… in your office.

  • Bulletproof Security. Many browser-based solutions rely solely on 128-bit encrypted SSL; HI-IQ uses this and much more. You need remote access without network vulnerability. HI-IQ adds an additional layer of security by leveraging proven technology from the industry’s security leader, Citrix.
