HI-IQ is the result of an 85-page specification given at the 1993 18th annual SIR scientific meeting in New Orleans. Every aspect of the system has been designed by those who use it, in direct response to their needs and the needs of other SIR members. It was conceived as a multi-phase project.
The first phase, replacing tedious and outdated manual methods of record-keeping employed by many interventionalists with a powerful, flexible, point-and-click system for quality assurance, was released in 1994.
The second phase, version 2.0 (released in 1995) thru 2.6 (released in 1997), seamlessly integrated product, resource, and general inventory onhand/cost management into HI-IQ. Other enhancements included support and interfaces for portable hand-held barcode scanning computers; an automated scheduling module to coordinate physicians, nurses, technologists, rooms, and procedures; new reports; and expanded search functionality.
The third phase, still in development today, fufills one of the original goals of the HI-IQ project: to compile a detailed national SIR database, allowing sites to contribute anonymous data to the national archives, and then to receive statistical feedback, allowing comparison of local data against national norms. Our goal is to bring an unprecedented level of quality assurance and clinical data tracking, to serve as a model for the rest of the healthcare industy to aspire toward, while proving the efficacy of Interventional Radiology.
How does ConexSys fit in?
ConexSys is the corporation formed by SIR and its partners to run the 'business' of HI-IQ. During 1997 and 1998 the management of ConexSys focused on raising capital rather than the HI-IQ product itself. During the latter half of 1998, SIR and UNICOM reviewed the status of ConexSys and as a result, SIR reestablished control of ConexSys and engaged UNICOM to operate ConexSys.
Shortly thereafter, in 2001, versions 3.0 and 3.1 were released. The functionality of HI-IQ continued to expand, and the installed user-base climbed to approximately 400 institutions across the United States, and around the world.
Ten years after HI-IQ's inception, at the end of 2003, ConexSys launched a new “Best Practice / Total Quality Management” initiative to ensure that HI-IQ continues to receive regular input from objective IR experts. This takes the form of the SIR HI-IQ Product Advisory Group (affectionately known as SHPAG), a 30-member volunteer design team structured carefully to ensure that HI-IQ continues to synthesize and present a model of best practice.
The new family of HI-IQ 2004 products takes IR data management to the next level by introducing conveniences designed to eliminate paperwork while securing quality. HI-IQ 2004 consists of an integrated suite of products designed by the best possible team of IR advisors. It includes extensive Clinical Data Management; smarter Inventory Management; powerful Scheduling; and revolutionary features utilizing some best-of-breed touch screen technology.
HI-IQ 2004 is not only easier, faster, and more secure, it’s also much smarter. For a live demonstration of the features and capabilities of HI-IQ 2004 please contact us to schedule a live, interactive web demo.
